I lost my job. After 6 months of not being invited to sales meetings. This did not seem right, since I was bringing in the top sales in the region for over 3 years. While being nice and then some to my Mnaager, and seeing some very unethical things being done, it was understood that the Manager, and some other people were helping him and those who buddied up with him make money on the work that I worked so hard to make in an honest, ethical way! When the District Manager came in I expressed my concern. Being a friend of the Manager, even though these people sent me e-mails over and over expressing their gratitude for the work I produced, he said something to me that I could not believe.. that was "to look deep inside my heart and soul and then I would understand why I was not included and why the Manager was not talking to me. I replied "I go home knowing I did an honest day's work, working from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and getting paid for 40 hours only. That was because we worked at 6.15 an hour and commission, and believing in doing everything for the client including being available whenever, I did that. I was badgered from 7 p.m. one night until 11 p.m. a half hour after the closing time to admt that I was walking around to members saying derogatory comments..which I did not .. I would not sign the paper saying that. The Manager showed me a manilla folder with papers in it and said that the members took their precious time to write these letters. When I asked to see them, he would not show them to me, and told me at the end of badgering me to sign the paper, that he would shred them, as he did not really believe I did that. In the end, I found out that people I recruited who were in my computer and I had the hand written information they filled out; they hacked into my computer somehow and took my name off of the Consultant area, and put another consultant's name on it "who hung out with the Manager.. and I was called in with a "friend" manager in his office, wanting once again for me to sign a paper saying I did something I did not.. I as walked to the door and watched while I was walked out.. No words were spoken by my Manager. Not only was I in "shock" but HR now has his comments that I was let go due to the above. It is on my records. Will this prevent me when I apply for a job? What can I do.. Since I had 9 Managers in over 3 years, who all were so thrilled, and even the one that let me go and his boss, sent me constant e-mails about how they were so grateful for me and my work, I am more than concerned about what will happen when a company calls about my employment with the last employer.. Can you help?

I see a couple of different issues here that you are going to work through, but overall I do not think this will keep you on the sidelines very long as long as you focus your energies to finding your next great opportunity and not dwell on the anger and frustration your are feeling toward your former employer. To start, have you watched the video that I did regarding "Addressing a Previous Termination"? http://www.ilostmyjob.com/Care...JOB358BC32 I think this is a good place to start. You might also want to make sure that you have someone work with you on your resume and cover letter. Sometimes as we write these documents our frustration comes out in the words we choose. Having someone else look over what you have written might help to make sure that you are putting your best foot forward. Next, I would secure as many positive recommendations as I could from your former managers. This will certainly "defuse" any comments that our most recent manager might share with a potential future employer. For example, if 9 managers say you were amazing and one says your weren't, most likely an employer would believe the 9 over the one... especially if you can explain your termination as I describe in the video above. Finally, it sounds like you were in a pretty toxic environment, one that (and I know it doesn't seem like it right now) you probably needed to get out of anyway. My guess is that you are going to look back 3 or 6 months from now, after you have secured your next great opportunity and be thankful that you got out of there. Write comment
