Some unemployed individuals often comment about feeling lost, not really knowing exactly what to do when they wake up in the morning. Those feelings can creep in and grow stronger in your psyche the longer you are unemployed. If you don’t already have a daily action plan, it’s time to put one together. A daily action plan will help guide you towards specific goals, establish needed routines, and keep you on the job hunting track.

In your job search, your only goal is to land the job. Use your daily action plan to chart your course and keep track of your job search records - who you contacted, when, where, how. Similar to employed work, successful job hunting requires maintaining accurate records. An easy way to chart your progress is to use Benjamin Franklin’s method. This chart will give you a clear depiction of your day and how you use your time. At the end of the day, take the totals and place them in each category. You will see how much time you’re spending on personal, business, and wasted time. With this information you will be able to cut down on wasted time and use the excess to increase your business time. This charting will also help you maximize your personal time more effectively. Use the format below to create your own personalized chart.
