"Is your on-line reputation hurting you?"
Chances are you already have a reputation online, even if you don't want one. On Web sites across the Internet, people can find information about you. You should be aware of your online reputation so you can protect it. This is especially important for job seekers. Research commissioned by Microsoft in December 2009 found that 79 percent of United States hiring managers and job recruiters surveyed reviewed online information about job applicants. Most of those surveyed consider what they find online to impact their selection criteria. In fact, 70 percent of United States hiring managers in the study say they have rejected candidates based on what they found.

With facebook, MySpace, and other social networking sites popping up everyday this article really makes you think about what you put out there on the internet. You are right, all someone has to do is to jump on Google and type in your name, and in a span of 2 seconds you may go from their top candidate to the trash can!
