"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." ~Henry David Thoreau

It is possible to achieve your dreams! Kristin S. Johnson truly believes this, because for years, she dreamt of working from home, doing something to help others. It took a coach to show her that this was possible. When she realized that coaching can provide such clarity and direction for people, she decided to become one.

An extrovert by nature, Kristin has always enjoyed working with people. She counseled patients about nutrition, worked in sales, tutored young adults, and was a job developer for people with disabilities. Another skill Kristin enjoys using is writing. She loves to extol the virtues of good people. Whether it is in the written word in the form of a resume, cover letter, or profile, or verbally to her connections in the community, she has a penchant for giving accolades to her clients for their amazing talents and ideas.

Becoming a career coach and resume writer was the perfect marriage of her favorite skills. When Kristin realized this, she was inspired to found Profession Direction.

Kristin uses detective-like inquisitiveness to extract the best success stories from people. The process of using type, values and personal branding assessments gets to the heart of what her clients are all about. Her clients’ individuality is infused into career documents and statements that can be used to help them reach their desired target. For job seekers, this means landing the ideal job more quickly than if they had tried to go it alone. For entrepreneurs, this means attracting the right clients, building their businesses faster and charging the rates they deserve.

Kristin’s enthusiasm for social media never ceases. She trains her clients on how to leverage social media effectively in reaching their goals. Keeping her knowledge current in this ever-changing area is essential, so Kristin attends frequent events hosted by the Social Media Club of Madison and the Social Media Success Summit presented by socialmediaexaminer.com.

Kristin works hard to continue her education in the careers industry through membership in Career Directors International. She attends the annual conferences for CDI and the Career Thought Leaders Consortium. Kristin is also a member of the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce and Dane Buy Local and frequently attends their events.

Kristin holds the following certifications and degree:

•    Certified Advanced Resume Writer, studied under Gayle Howard, the most awarded resume writer in Australia
•    Certified Online Professional Networking Strategist
•    Certified 360 Reach Analyst
•    Certified Career Management Coach Program and the Get Clear, Get Found, Get Hired! (G3) Coach Program.
•    Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from UW–Madison

Currently, Kristin is working on becoming a Certified Job Search Strategist through The Academies. This rigorous course teaches coaches how to provide a series of structured coaching sessions to job seekers working toward the next step in their career.

In addition to career coaching, writing career materials and consulting on social media issues, Kristin is collaborating with her significant other, Tommy Mathews, to incorporate video services into her business plan. Tom has owned Shadow Productions and worked as an independent cameraman, gaffer, and lighting grip for the past 20 years. His experience in this industry includes working on short films, commercials, seminars, athletic events and music festivals. His ability to capture the essence of a person’s story on video will be a real asset to the clients of Profession Direction.
