RE: Career Counselor - Career Development Office (#05BT04)

Dear [Name of Contact OR Sir or Madam],

Tammy Smith, Supervisor of the Communications Department, suggested I contact you. As an Adjunct Faculty Instructor for the Communications Department WEC at St. Kate’s, I am submitting my résumé for the Career Counselor position that’s become open in the Career Development Office. I am very excited about this opportunity, as your requirements for this position closely resemble skills and abilities that I can offer to fulfill the responsibilities of this job.

Please note that I hold a BA and MA in Communications. With strong interpersonal skills, a high level of energy, enthusiasm and flexibility, I am able to work independently and take initiative as well as work as an effective team member. In addition to once being a “non-traditional” student, I’ve gained experience counseling non-traditional students in career development as a Weekend College Instructor.

I am sure that, as a liaison to WEC students, the Education Department and programs that prepare students, alumnae, faculty and staff for the job search process, I would be able to use all of my skills in public relations, writing, research, communications, sales, marketing and customer service. As a member of the career development staff, serving on college committees and participating and serving on statewide and other professional organizations, I would contribute in a positive, professional and influential manner.

Of course, designing and delivering workshops and programs including classroom and workshop presentations, is in keeping with my love of teaching. I am extremely interested in meeting with you to discuss your needs and my qualifications in greater detail. Please contact me at the e-mail address listed above or via phone at [555-555-5555] so we can arrange an interview at a mutually convenient time. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
