Land a Job

Page 1 of 2 Formerly employed individuals often wake up with the intention of finding a job. The alarm buzzes, covers swing-off and then into the shower intent on sitting down at their computer and clicking up a job.
There are jobs that many people just aren’t finding. They see their previous job as the exact job they should look for and want in the future. Working for a private accounting firm doesn’t mean you have to be a private accountant the rest of your life. It’s possible to take those skills and apply for a senior-level administrator in an energy company. If you can save the company money in this recession, they will hire you. Even if you believe you have no idea how to be an administrator for an energy company.
This is a regular situation in sectors that aren’t seeing deflation but are growing. Companies that have high demand are hiring people they never would have dreamed of applying. The new spectrum of jobs hiring is creating a diversified market place. For example, a teacher becoming a mechanic, or a private CEO moving to nonprofit organizations. There are sectors that are hiring rapidly: Energy, Education, International Business, Health Care, Security & Environmental jobs.
Seeing an opportunity where others are seeing payouts, there is no reason why you shouldn’t try your hand in the same jobs. You have skills and finding how your skills work in a new job is up to the company. Your intention, if you’re unemployed, is finding a job. So don’t be concerned that you might not be exactly qualified for a job or it isn’t your type of work. Apply for the job, (hopefully get an) interview, and remember the worst issue that could arise is the company saying, “We’ve decided to hire someone else.” At that point you’re back at square one, right where you are now. Except you have more connections in a different market that might develop into a job at some later date.
It often feels this way for the unemployed - jobs are everywhere, you just need to go find it. There are other jobs that you should look into if you’ve looked at one of these sectors already, and you should check out the rest. They need new workers, ideas and renewed ways to turn a profit. You should be a part of all that. The following sectors all have a demand for new employees - unless the entire world collapses in upon itself!
